    Counselor Toolbox
This is probably the best podcast I have found regarding this subject matter. The episode about bpd really spoke to me and I learned a great deal from it! Thank you Doc Snipes.

    Essential for mental health professionals
This is one tool I use in a busy work week to sharpen my skills. Although my family are in different fields of work, they are often intrigued and start listening as well. The only thing that I would change is fixing a few moments in a few episodes where her sentences are cut off at pivotal times.

    Volume
Can’t hear episodes lately: the volume is too low. The content is great.

    Hosts voice
Some good content, but the host’s voice and pacing honestly stresses me out. She’s very pressured and intense in her speech patterns, which I find difficult to listen to.

    Doc Snipes is the best
She is providing priceless information to the general public at no cost. Has a way of presenting heavy topics in a lighthearted way and does not over explain. Gives insight and hope that seemingly insurmountable issues can be overcome in a practical way (if you put in the work). Truly a gift! I follow her YouTube as well.

    Annoying episode
It should be subtitled… ‘does not apply to a child dying before the parent.’

    Fantastic for learning
I have listened to these fore years, through school and now as a therapist obtaining my licensure hours. They are fantastic refreshers and I learn something new everyday. Dawn is very descriptive and helpful. She does talk very fast at times.
  • Psopheigh
    Slow down!!
I’m a fast talker, and even I can’t keep up! I’m listening to the HPA-Axis episode, and not only can I not follow because she’s talking so fast, it’s legit stressing me out! Gah!
  • Larosette_avec
    Queer ness reflected more?
Thankful for helpful episode on grief... as a queer person, speaking for all of us, I am sure queer-aware language can be included. Pls update vocabulary using they/them to reflect the possibility that a person may be non-binary. Also mentioning all that goes w coming out and grief would be appreciated. 🙏🏽.

    Great content / Audio issues
The content is great and as a grad student have been back to these podcasts time and time again for review of basic counseling skills and new topics but the audio edits should be improved. There are frequent times where the speaker’s words are being cutoff abruptly as if the editing wasn’t done correctly and in some cases a word or two gets lost. Other than that, I throughly enjoy the content.

    Not helpful
I’ve listen to a dozen and I really don’t think it’s helpful and the host harbors racist ideology

    Best informational on PTSD!
BLUFF: (Bottom Line Up Front) This is the best talk on PTSD that I've ever head. I found the episode on PTSD- Exploring the Adaptive Nature of Symptoms and Interventions very informative, chocked full of great information. Tying the hipocampos, thyroid, hyper-reaction and others together was something I had not heard before and this was illuminating. Even hyper-cortisolism and chronic stress, and how it impares thyroid function was new in how it interrelates. And much, much more to hear and learn about!

    Great podcast
Great podcast with great content! I definitely recommend it! I learn something new from Dr.Snipes every week. Her delivery of the content, as well as her approach is just awesome! I started listening to this podcast before even gaining my CADC. The content in this podcast helped me significantly to prep for the CADC exam, even more so then the study guide I purchased from IODAPCA. Thank you Dr.Snipes!!

Like a graduate school refresher every podcast
I finished my degree in counseling 20 years ago but just came back and got my license. I have loved listening to these podcasts because they are like having a very practical, quick resource to review best practices and latest tools for specific issues. When I have a client with a particular issue, I know I can listen to a podcast and it’s like having my own supervisor for each situation. I’m so thankful I discovered this!

    Great material
The material is fantastic and well researched, however, the amount of “you know” and “um” is distracting.

    A great resource!
This podcast has been a great help with identifying new information and remembering things I may have forgotten. Highly recommend to new and experienced clinicians. The presentations are well done, with a nice amount of humor and personal insight thrown in to make it feel particularly special. Please keep up the great work!

    Great presenter and info
I love this podcast and regularly recommend it to others. As a therapist in practice for over 20 years, I still learn something in every episode. In addition, having provided trainings and doing public speaking for over 10 years, I also respect and enjoy Dr. Snipes presenting style.

    Good podcast
I like Counselor Toolbox for several reasons. Dr Snipes is down to earth, explains things well, gives good examples and is easy to listen to. What I like most of all is that she is an animal lover who helps out rescue groups by fostering cats and kittens. She most definitely has a kind heart ❤️
